FAQs

Continue reading below to learn the answers to a few commonly asked questions before you arrive for your next visit!

How Can I Find a Skilled Sleep Dentist near Shenandoah?

If you’ve been struggling to get quality rest at night, it can affect your daily quality of life near Shenandoah in several ways. Not only might you feel drained and exhausted, but a lack of sleep can also impact your physical and emotional health. That means finding a skilled dentist to help diagnose your sleep issue and provide appropriate treatment plans can improve your oral and overall well-being.

Usually, a quick internet search can give you a list of results so you can find a provider close by. At The Woodlands Dental Group, Dr. Robert Dernick has decades of experience helping patients overcome their sleep disorders to get the quality rest they deserve.

How Much Does a CPAP Machine Cost in Shenandoah?

Many patients who are considering sleep apnea treatments wonder whether they can purchase a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine on their own and bypass the time, effort, and expenses of visiting a qualified professional. Typically, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $1,650, depending on the brand, age, and quality of the product you purchase.

However, a prescription is required to purchase one of these machines in the United States, and you may have a health or dental insurance plan that can help cover the cost. Our team happily provides take-home sleep tests to help diagnose your condition and can help with insurance paperwork and claims to streamline your experience in procuring one.

What Do I Do if I Don’t Have Insurance?

Many insurance providers include benefits to address issues like sleep apnea, but our team understands that not everyone carries a health or dental policy. We don’t want your budget to hold you back from getting the services required to address chronic sleep issues that interfere with your wellness, so we offer another option.

We have proudly partnered with a third-party financer, CareCredit, that allows you to break up the cost of your services into more manageable monthly installments. That way, you can receive the care you need now but pay for it over an extended period to be easier on your wallet.

What Level of Education is Required to be a Sleep Dentist?

Although all dentists are trained professionals qualified to care for your smile, additional education is required to specialize in sleep disorders. In addition to being a licensed dentist, one must also complete additional courses in this topic and the associated treatment methods and patient management. There are two pathways to official certification with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine; the Mastery Track and the Traditional Track.

At our practice near Shenandoah, Dr. Dernick graduated with his DDS degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. From there, he committed to ongoing education in sleep dentistry to ease patients’ suffering. Now, he proudly offers a variety of services that can help you get a good night’s rest!
